18 years ago today, we opened our first ever Gelatissimo store in Australia, in the heart of Sydney’s CBD in 2002, and have been sharing the love of through our delicious gelato ever since. We now have 43 stores nationwide, 23 stores around the world, and continue to make gelato fresh in-store, with no artificial colours and flavours! Our entire range today contains over 50 delicious flavours, including the classics Mango, Pistachio and Chocolate that have been on the menu since the beginning, to our non-dairy, low sugar and vegan-friendly flavours.
Our CEO Filipe Barbosa recounts, “In the early days when we started in Australia, gelato was not well recognised. Many customers associated gelato with the word sorbet and thought of it as icy. Well, were they surprised when they saw and tasted our product and realised how rich and smooth it was! I remember many customers’ looks of amazement when they first tasted our product.”
To celebrate our coming of age, we’ve brought back a crowd favourite for a limited time only as our September flavour of the month, CHOCOLATE MADE WITH LINDT. A modern twist on the classic chocolate, a rich chocolate gelato, made with Lindt Swiss Premium Chocolate and drizzled with Lindt chocolate throughout.
